National Conference
Every year, NWR holds a themed National Conference where members from all over the country and from overseas have the chance to get together for discussions on a much broader scale. From 2007, the National Conference will take place in summer. We listen to well-informed speakers and debate often controversial topics amongst ourselves. There are workshops to try out a new skill or experience, and plenty of time to catch up with old friends and to make new ones. At the AGM we keep in touch with what's happening nationally, followed in the evening by a first rate formal dinner with light entertainment. For full details follow the link on Contacts page to the National NWR website.
Day Conferences & Discussion Lunches
Throughout the year, groups around the country organise their own, smaller scale conferences around a chosen theme. Market Drayton group recently held a reunion lunch with guest speaker to celebrate our 25th Anniversary (see events page). The Golden Jubilee year was celebrated with an Area Meeting of fun and games from the 1950s.

Correspondence Magazine
Correspondence magazines are a collection of letters written by and circulated amongst a small group of NWR members from around the country. Groups vary in size from 6 to 12 members. Each magazine has an editor who collects the letters and circulates them. The purpose of the magazine is lively discussion and friendship, though members may never meet. Some magazines have a set monthly topic, but discussion is generally not limited.

Postal Book Group
There are several Postal Book Groups in operation. Each group consists of 12 members scattered around Britain who, instead of meeting on a regular basis to discuss books, write their observations in a notebook which is circulated with each book. Each member selects a book from her own collection which she then posts to the next person on the list. In this way, she will receive 11 different books and her own book back at the end of twelve months.
Research Bank
Groups are able to access a wide range of information and reference material to inform and enliven their meetings. The books, research packs, leaflets, and videos available for loan are provided by the national organisation, and often include data assembled by other groups and individuals with specialist knowledge.

Pen Friend Scheme
The Penfriend Scheme is for all NWR members interested in writing to other members to compare notes, exchange ideas or simply for friendship. Unlike the correspondence magazines, the penfriend scheme operates on a purely one-to-one basis.
